Maybelline Cushion Foundation

Welcome back lovelies!

Its been a few weeks since I’ve posted, my apologies, but sometimes life gets crazy busy and before you know it, weeks pass, any hoo, here I am and wanted to share my thoughts on this new foundation that has hit the shelves and girlies….I like!!!

Maybelline Dream Cushion foundation

Target had a 30% off sale the other day and after reading so much about the Dream cushion foundation and my love for Maybelline bases I really wanted to give it a try. SMLxO is one of my favourite You Tubers, when I saw her recent video using it and how easy it was to apply and the finish she was left with, I wanted it!

Ok, so what does Madeline profess to us with their product? Maybelline says….

Dream Cushion Fresh Face Liquid foundation delivers luminous (I’m all about the luminous girls) coverage for fresh-faced perfection.

Application is easy with the soft sponge applicator ( I used my miracle beauty sponge) press into the cushion , then tap around your face (forehead, cheeks and chin) and then blend with downward strokes and tapping motion.

My Thoughts:

Dream cushion comes in a cute little round compact contains 14.6gms of product with a handy mirror and a round soft applicator. The cushion foundation sits under the clasp that holds the applicator. It’s a handy compact , not bulky and easy to travel with.

I did not use the applicator , I preferred to use it with my Real Techniques miracle sponge and also used my Real techniques foundation brush to see which I preferred.

I found the foundation to be lightweight, and easy to build. My sponge gave me a more natural fresh-faced look, a light coverage, my skin was still visible underneath, however when I went in heavier and with my foundation brush, it definitely covered my freckles and redness on my cheeks, leaving me  with a medium coverage, I could have built it up more, but I don’t like full coverage on my face. I did find the brush helped with applying more product, however, I like the finish my sponge leaves, and went over it to smooth out some lines that the brush didn’t buff out. I love that this foundation is Spf40, I’m not sure how much product you need to apply to get that coverage, but for everyday use even some form of protection is a bonus. I haven’t  taken photos of my face with the foundation because I’ve only brought it a couple of days ago, so I don’t know how much flashback you would get with this foundation because of its high SPF. I wouldn’t use this for going out and special occasions so I’m not really concerned with how I might look in photos with this on, but you may want to consider it, it you are going to use it for an occasion that you want to take photos, no-one like ghost face in a pic!

I really loved the finish and ease of blending the cushion foundation, it didn’t take long at all, leaving my skin looking natural, very luminous, and felt very comfortable. My dry to normal skin doesn’t require me to set my base with powders, however I do usually spritz my face with a setting spray to give my makeup staying power and leaves it looking fresher for longer. I found that when i didn’t use my setting spray it lasted a good 5 hours and still hadn’t settled into my lines, however I didn’t look as luminous either, when I did use the spray it lasted as long, but looked better because the glow had remained. NYX dewy setting spray gave my coverage longer longevity for sure, ( Nyx setting sprays are also a great drugstore product!).  I think it would be easy to apply with the  sponge applicator thats proviced, just not sure how well it would blend out, it’s very soft and spongy and SMLxO used it to apply her makeup and looked great, but you know you tube and lighting!

It retails for $26.95 is currently on sale at Priceline for $18.86 and I purchased my on sale at  Target $18.10 with 30% off. I always wait for the sales with drug store, because they hold sales often and I refuse to pay full price when I know I can get a deal if I am patient ( but I do struggle at times to hold back…UGHHHH!!)

I think for a cheaper end product, Maybelline have amazing quality foundations and the cushion liquid in a compact is another great addition to their already extensive range. My review is definatley a positive one as i feel it stood up to their claim of perfect coverage with a fresh and luminous glow, Im not sure how this will fair with oily sking types or combination, but for the dry/normal sking types i highly recommend it.

Girls who love to wear foundation every day and dont want to spend a fortune but love good quality  high end finish with a drugstore tag, this is a fantastic option, makeup is not cheap and if you can walk out the door with a great face of makeup for a quarter of the price, why wouldn’t you!

Hope you enjoyed the read, leave me a comment if you’ve used or have questions, I love to hear some feedback.

Have a great weekend guys, thankyou for stoppng by and for those of us in Melbourne…YAAYY for Monday’s public holiday!!!

Until next time, wishing you happy days

LULU XO

    1. I wore it again yesterday and I’m just loving it.. My suggestion though, don’t use the applicator, my beauty sponge is so perfect with this foundation .. Thankyou for reading, I really hope you like it as I do 😍☺️

  2. Great Review Hun! I haven’t tried this yet. Not sure how it would go on oily skin. I might do some research and find out if its worth me trying as I love the idea of the packaging. It would be great to throw in your handbag for touch ups!
